MAPS & ITINERARY OF WALKABOUT TRAIL

Day One: Waretown to Tuckerton Seaport

Sponsored by the Optimist Club of Barnegat, we will trace the path of pirates and adventurers into Southern Ocean County, to the famous Tuckerton Seaport.

Day Two: Tuckerton to Old Smithville Part One
Day Two, Part Two

Thanks to our flotilla commanded by Ms. Debbie Jacques, we'll be able to cross the Mullica river and head toward Old Smithville, a delightful historic village that has been restored, and boasts a small railroad and many shops and amusements.

Day Three: Old Smithville to Atlantic City

We are walking down the Monopoly Board that is Atlantic City, down Ventor, Atlantic, Boardwalk, Park Place. Let's hope we don't land In Jail! In any case, we'll be cheering on the Atlantic City Surf Minor League Baseball team, and enjoy the fellowship of the Allen AME Church

Day Four: Alantic City to Marmora, Part One

Thanks to the hospitality of the Church of the Resurrection, we'll be camping, enjoying volleyball and meeting some new friends, just as we'd hoped.

Day Four, Part Two

Due to the closure of Route nine, no legal way is available to cross from Atlantic into Cape May County, so we must be shuttled two miles along the Parkway.

Day Five: Marmora to Belleplain

Day Six: Belleplain to Newport

Deep in Mome Wraith country, we're heading for camping, showers, and the southernmost leg of our voyage.

Here begin the two most challenging days of our walk, the longest and most arduous of our journey. If we can make it through here, the rest of the way is smooth sailing!

Day Seven: Newport to Coyote Tracks

We're staying at a Primitive survival school! Let's toss the atl-atl, make fire by rubbing sticks together, and learn something about tracking with the Coyote Tracks school.

Day Eight: Coyote Tracks to Parvin State Park Map

Thanks to all those who contributed to the letter-writing campaign that kept Parvin State Park open! Thanks to their dilligence, we can stay there, and learn about edible wild plants!

Day Nine Parvin State Park to Rowan University

We're going to sleep in dorms, and see what the life of a college student is like. We're going to have air conditioning and showers!!

Rowan University to West Berlin

Thanks to the Fraternal Order of Police and the Mayor's office for making us feel so welcome in Berlin!

Day Eleven: West Berlin to Shamong

We'll be learning how to meditate, and learn about inner peace from these gentle people.

Day Twelve: Shamong to Chatsworth

On familiar ground from last year's walkabout, we begin our final approach to home with a stop in beautiful Chatsworth, on the historic grounds of the Chatsworth Inn.

Day Thirteen: Midnight walk through the ghost towns of NJ.

Keep a brave heart, and keep your mind keen as we walk through a ghostly trail at midnight. We'll rest by day in the pines, and then brave the deep woods at the midnight hour.

Day Fourteen: Add eight miles to this walk, that we accomplish at Midnight. Our trail ends just after dawn.

We'll be at Miller Air Park, ready to fly, to walk to Keswick for a swim, and to have some of Mr. Mitch's famous chili!!

Thanks to all those who contributed to the letter-writing campaign that kept Parvin State Park open! Thanks to their dilligence, we can stay there, and learn about edible wild plants!
