Hot day on the road to Montclair University.

Getting closer to the university....

Honestly.. not a clue where we are in this picture.
July 12
"NJ's only public state teaching university", 14 miles from NYC.
Poison Ivy:
Need to drive to Waywayanda and place mile markers until Star Lake, some sort of Sunday service needed. Staying at Bone Hall.
Wolf:
Checked with Jersey City Police, no anticipated rough spots, short walk.
We met Tom, our vehicular support from the National Guard. He immediately fit right in and became "one of us". The walk was difficult mostly because a critical turn sign was taken. Our walkers walked more than a half mile out of their way in the wrong direction and then had to turn back. Montclair State University is a beautiful campus, and we were treated well. Some of our kids met up with some college students, and hung out with them, experiencing college life and having a great time. The views of NYC skyline from our window were spectacular. Montclair is a beautiful college in an excellent location, it seems like a small-town college, but it's only 14 miles from New York City. Nico and Savan walked barefoot, becoming, perhaps the first people to walk barefoot through Jersey City since the Lenape.
Total Miles:

Spokesman: Joe Odebede- A latecomer to the South Toms River Little League Season, he was also a latecomer to the Walkabout, signing up only a month ago. He is the kind of walker that gets stronger as he goes on. He is a welcome addition to The Hecht Trailer's Flaming Fireworks walking team.
