A Satellite Picture of the 88 Acres
Our purpose in creating the Utopia program is to fashion a prototype
for life in the twenty-first century. We propose to create a ``non-development``
in the suburb where people can live off the land, but not isolated from
the mainstream. In this living situation we hope to create a model for
co-existence with nature: Individuals will be able to come and go as they
please, but their everyday housing situation will have a positive impact
on the environment.
The families of STR will benefit. We will allow each family unit to
host one local child for three weeks. These children will maintain that
core feeling of tribal unity within the community upon which they will
be able to create lasting relationships. The local kids` tribe will have
its own shelter (adopting one of the ones built by the families) and maintain
contacts with their hosts.
Certain guidelines must be respected, and each family will be asked
to help complete tasks. Tribal concils will be held twice a week, and we
hope that each individual would feel willing to share his/her spirtual
vision (without prostelytizing) with the rest of the tribe. All families
should be willing to live in the same wilderness, work together,
play together, and pray together several times a week at least.
The first micro-program will iron out the kinks so we require some hearty
souls. We are hoping that at least 1 senior couple joins us. The program
will be well-documented, although we will withold the names and images
of the participants.
All participants will be asked to bring a notebook, tape recorder with
sufficient battery power, and all adults over the age of 18 must obtain
a police report in a timely fashion. (Please start the process early. It
takes months).
